While trends in fashion are one of the greatest contributors to the fashion industry's waste, and a catastrophe for the sustainable fashion movement, they are also a way for large fashion houses (especially, fast fashion ones) to make millions, and an easy way for people to discover items that they usually wouldn't pick up.
That being said, if you are the person who buys every next item because you see it on your #fyp, on your favorite influencer or in the store you're always visiting, only to discover you hate it a few months later, this article is for YOU.
This easy rule helps you identify and build your personal style, while being as sustainable as possible.

My basic rule of thumb is to disassociate the word "trendy" from a piece of clothing. Look at an item just like you would look at it if it wasn't what everyone was wearing and ask yourself these questions:
Is this my style?... OR do I like it because it's trending?
Can I see myself styling and wearing it multiple ways?
Do I see it hiding at the back of my closet, OR do I see myself liking and wearing it months from now?
Asking yourself these simple questions before buying items of clothing can help you slowly build up a more sustainable and eco-friendly wardrobe that is catered to your style, with items YOU would actually wear.
As the fashion icon, designer and founder of name brand, "Vivienne Westwood" once said,
"Buy Less, Choose Well, Make it Last."
