Trends can be detrimental for our environment when only bought because of their "trendiness", disposed off within the next few weeks or months, or bought on fast fashion platforms. That being said, however, trends can be a great way of creating a personal sense of style by allowing you to discover new pieces and explore fashion for the creative form of expression it is.

If you'd like to learn how to shop sustainably while creating the wardrobe of your dreams, click to read my article delving deeper into that HERE.

Jumping into it, here are my top favourite trends we're seeing today.

It feels like New Year's Eve all year round with the comeback of shiny and metallic, especially silver, everything... and I'm not complaining. Whether it's a hint of shine through some statement earrings or a head-to-toe sparkly-fit... we're seeing sparkles and metallics make their comeback, and I'm praying it's here to stay. I do suggest reading Maddy Baxter (@stylecliche), our sustainable fashion queen's, article to remind you how to do this in a more sustainable and eco-friendly way. Click HERE to read the article.

Dainty hyper-feminine details (bows, ruffles, flowers, lace, feathers etc) are also everywhere, from a bow as a hair accessory to a lace gown (my personal preference, of course) these little details are such a fun, easy and timeless way to elevate simple outfits or create show-stopping pieces. Whether it's the Asian designer brand, FANCì (@fanci.club), seen on all of your favourite supermodels, pop artists or influencers, flaunting flowery sets or ruffle-filled dresses or New-York designed brand, Mirror Palais (@mirrorpalais), and their stunning lace dresses that are to die for, this trend is here to stay and is stamping its influence on the fashion timeline.

2020-21 had the chunky rings, and 2022-23 have the chunky necklaces. The reintroduction of chokers and other statement neck-pieces definitely has a mixed bag of reactions. We've all seen them, some of us love them, and some of us get eery flashbacks to the start of the 2010s. However, with time, these have (thankfully) taken an elegant twist. Seen all over last season's runway, and more recently on influencers like Danielle Bernstein (@weworewhat); Matilda Djerf (@matildadjerf); and Lara Adkins (@laraadkins) these flower chokers and big pendant necklaces are likely to be a micro-trend in the fashion field, but a fun one that. With many small businesses hand-making and selling these pieces, we advise shopping small especially, when it comes to this trend.

Some other timeless trends I've been loving include maxi skirts, elegant off-shoulder moments, longer-length tops, mesh shirts and pointed-toe shoes.
